It is one of the most imposing monuments in Paris. It was erected by Louis XIV to provide shelter for invalid soldiers. The Invalides are a place of remembrance (where people pay tribute to those who died for France or to great personalities at the time of their death). The Invalides offer a magnificent view and the golden dome was for a long time the highest monument in Paris.
