1 Paris, capital of romance
For the Eiffel Tower, favor the Trocadero or the Iena Bridge if you want it to be seen in the photo. Photo chosen by monsieurdefrance.com: depositphotos.
Obviously, Paris is the capital of love. There are several places to say I love you in Paris. You can do it on the prettiest square in Paris, place Vendôme (and if you can afford it, finish with dinner at the Ritz). There's alsothe Champs-Elysées, rather down towards the Concorde (which also lends itself wonderfully) to go to the restaurant just after. There's also Montmartre, with the stairs in front of the basilica and a magnificent view of Paris, or Place Dutertre with its painters and little cafés. A little further on, in square Jehan Rictus, near place des abbesses, the je t'aime wall is a 40 M2 romantic work aved 311 times the words "je t'aime" in 250 different languages.

The Eiffel Tower reste a must, you can do it from the Trocadéro, the Pont d'Iena or, more original, in the other direction and without the Seine from Avenue Pierre Loti. There's also the square du vert-galant (place du pont-neuf), at the end of the Ile de la Cité with Notre Dame as a backdrop. Some prefer le pont des arts, in front of the Académie Française (quai Conti), we used to hang a padlock on it, it's no longer possible today. One more thing: how about a romantic dinner on one of the famous bâteaux-mouches that cruise the Seine? Speaking of the Seine, the bridges of Paris are so romantic! Prefer Pont-Neuf, Pont Alexandre III and Pont de Bir-hakeim.

2 Nancy and the most beautiful square in the world
Superb golden gates of Nancy to admire as you propose at the foot of one of the two fountains. Photo chosen by monsieurdefrance.com: shutterstock.
Nothing could be more romantic than Nancy's Place Stanislas. A beautiful white square, encircled by tall, noble buildings and studded with gold as worked wrought-iron grills gilded with gold leaf surround the square and its fountains and extend right up to the window balconies. A golden place, then, with the advantage of being largely made up of cafés. In summer, you can enjoy a drink while admiring the square, and in winter, take shelter in one of the restaurants to sample local specialties. Further afield, the "vieile ville", the city's oldest district, is packed with little streets and numerous restaurants (eating out is a national sport in Nancy). In short, try the capital ofLorraine.

3 Nice and azure love
There's nothing more beautiful than Nice, with its many romantic spots. First of all, the Côte d'Azur is sunny very, very often, even in winter, so you can go there easily throughout the year. Then, for places, there's obviously the Promenade des Anglais (by the sea), particularly at the Hotel Negresco (37 Promenade des Anglais), the Place Massena, le vieux-Nice but also more surprising places like the temple de l'amour du parc Chambrun (27 avenue Alfred de Vigny) or la cascade de Gairaut, on the heights of the city, with its astonishing villa that you'd think had arrived from Austria or Switzerland on a magic carpet (240 avenue de Gairaut, or Rac de la croix).

4 Cabourg and love on the Côte Fleurie
Normandy is the place to be for romance. The Côte Fleurie lends itself perfectly to a romantic break, whether on the boards of Deauville or in Trouville. Cabourg is the capital of romance, with its annual Romantic Film Festival. You can also head to Honfleur and its pretty port with picturesque streets and great restaurants for a romantic dinner.

5 In the Luberon, we'll love each other
The beautiful village of Gordes (where you'll find the perfect restaurant for a romantic lunch or dinner). Photo chosen by monsieurdefrance.com: shutterstock.
If you want to say "I love you" in one of the most beautiful French villages, don't hesitate to choose the Lubéron, a terroir located mainly in the Vaucluse region. You'll be spoilt for choice between Gordes ( voted most beautiful village in the world by an American magazine that has seen quite a few), Sénanques, l'Isle sur la Sorgue, Lacoste, Roussillon and many others. A little further up the map, push on to Grignan, in Drôme Provençale, a magnificent hilltop village overlooking lavender fields in late spring.

6 Strasbourg and romantic Alsace
The capital of Alsace lends itself perfectly to a romantic getaway. A little restaurant in Little France, a stroll along the banks of the Ill, a discovery of the cathedral and the little streets all around, you'll be spoilt for choice. It's also a very romantic destination at Christmas, since it's wherethe biggest Christmas market in Alsace takes place. Choose, for example, the Abreuvoir footbridge (quai des bateliers / Rue de l'abreuvoir),the cathedral square and the surrounding area, or the Parc de l'orangerie.

7 Dinard and the Emerald Coast
Dinard is made up of several hundred villas, some of which are veritable seafront castles / Photo chosen by monsieurdefrance.com: Shutterstock.
Dinard is the most elegant seaside resort in Western France. Situated in Brittany, it's nevertheless all English style, since it was English tourists who chose and developed this magical place. Discover the customs path along the coast before trying out one of the town's restaurants and sleeping on site (there are a large number of hotels and places to stay). You can also go opposite, to Saint Malo, a superb fortified town facing the sea. Here, you can tour the ramparts before strolling along the immense Sillon beach and, why not,go to the marine thermal baths to pamper yourself and treat yourself to a romantic moment by the sea. Mont Saint Michel is not far away, and you can also sleep there in the evening (very romantic!).

8 Loire castles and royal love
The delightful Château de Chenonceau and its roses in spring / Photo chosen by monsieurdefrance.com depositphotos
The châteaux of the Loire Valley know a thing or two about romance, having seen so many love stories at the heart of the French Court as it moved from château to château during the Renaissance. Chambord saw François 1er and Louis XIV love their royal mistresses, Chenonceau was imagined by Diane de Poitiers, mistress of the French king Henri II and the château was continued by ... Henri II's wife: Catherine de Médicis. Chenonceau is gorgeous in spring, and we can just imagine you making your declaration in the garden at the foot of the château, which is beautifully in bloom. Chambord impresses and its staircase is sublime. Azay le rideau, the castle on an island, is deliciously romantic. Here, you can make your declaration of love and have a drink right afterwards with the château in front of you. If you like the atmosphere of the Loire banks, consider stopping off for dinner at a restaurant in Amboise or Tours.

La plage de la Perle / Pearl beach in Guadeloupe/ Photo chosen by monsieurdefrance.com
The French overseas departments and territories have much to offer lovers. In Martinique, you'll choose the plages des Salines. You can also go to the garden of Balata or the cute wooden decks that lead to the sea, for example at Trinité, Tartane, Anse d'Arlets, Sainte-Anne, Trois-Ilets. On Réunion, there's Hermitage beach, Grand-galet waterfall or outright Piton de la Fournaise for the more sporty. New Caledonia offers the Phare Amédée, Anse Vata beach or the Signal islet. For Tahiti, we prefer the beaches of Bora-Bora, Taha'a, nicknamed the vanilla island, or the atolls of Rangiroa and Fakarava.

I have a crush on Guadeloupe and the superb Perle beach, but there's also the Grande anse beach. You can also enjoy a romantic stroll through the botanical gardens.

10 Biarritz, the sea and love in the Basque country
Located in the Pyrenees-Atlantiques region of the Basque Country, Biarritz is one of France's most beautiful and chic seaside resorts. Here you'll discover magnificent villas, the superb Hôtel du Palais (with sea view!), the Vierg rocke, facing the restless ocean, the beach of the Côte des Basques allows you to see sumptuous sunsets. If you prefer a more historic atmosphere, don't hesitate to push on to Saint Jean de Luz. The port is superb, so is the town, and for those with a sweet tooth, it's the French chocolate capital.
